From what Ken told me and I latter saw for myself Zhang xue's family has a little bit more money then his own. Not only having running water for showers and bathrooms they also have a phone and are quite close to the road to central town. The picture on the left is their living room and the sheet that is hung from the ceiling is what separated the living room from where Ken and I slept for our one night stay.
This is the front of the house straight ahead is the shower with the solar water heater on the roof. They also have a out house with a whole in the ground for a toilet. A house this style would be considered upper end for a family living outside the city. With Zhang xue's father being a truck driver in addition to having a farm it has given her family somewhat of an elevated economic status.
The day before we had arrived they had went ahead and killed a pig in preparation for the Spring Festival. This is the storing room where the entire Pig has been gutted out and put on banana tree leaves of course preserved in salt. We latter helped do some last Pig meat preparations: Ken hacked some meat in to tiny peaces that could be easily picked up with chop sticks while I filled intestines with shredded pig meat using a contraption comparative to a Car Jack.

Here is the Outside of the refrigerator, its a common practice in China to hang a mirror at the top of the door frame to keep out evil Spirits.
Our stay at Zhang Xue's house was short lived after one night's stay her father gave us a ride back into town in his truck before the three of us finally went to Ken's House!
